We are happy to report that at least 2 ( if not more depending on attendance) of the Fort Lauderdale Rainbow Alliance Hospitality Properties have consented to be our Host properties with outstanding discount rates starting at $99.00 per night.Rooms have one queen or king sized bed, with limited amounts of rooms with two beds. Handicapped or disabled persons will be given priority on first floor units; please advise the managers. These properties are just a half block from the beautiful beaches that Connie Francis sang about in “Where the Boys Are” and Fort Lauderdale is famous for. The Florida Gold Coast chapter has been busily arranging hospitality, and meetings spaces that supports the GLBT community of South Florida and those that support the mission of AVER National. Due to a Heavy Political Year, many politicians have not gotten back to us about appearances, but thanks to some National Members and some of our Local AVER-FGC members we are preparing a great workshop and speaker schedule. Please contact us with your interest of attending the Bi-Annual AVER National Convention, October 14-18, 2009. Nathaniel Frank, Senior Research Fellow Palm Center University of California, Santa Barbara has confirmed to attend the convention as a speaker. Dr Frank has written the book Unfriendly Fire: How the Gay Ban Undermines the Military and Weakens America, will be published in 2009 by St. Martin 's Press.
